Das Ding sieht ja echt interessant aus. Ist ein 500 g Röster oder. Von welcher Firma ist der, was kostet der, Gasbetrieben oder, hat ja Abluft wie sieht es mit der Rauchentwicklung im Raum aus.

The roaster takes a load from 200 grams minimum up to 520 grams maximum, it can be made to run (burn) on natural gas or LPG (propane and or butane).
I bought it direct from the manufacturer (Yang Chia) in Taiwan who also makes large industrial roasters. This one (model 800N) I bought is a miniaturized copy of one of the larger industrial models). It is the first sale of them of this roaster to anyone in Europe and all went really well, no problems at all. (I do have some experience in import/export and all related documents etc)
There is virtually no excess smoke in the roasting room as the separate exhaust ventilators for the roasting chamber and cooler work very well.
It is too early yet to give a complete report on the roaster but I am very satisfied with it so far.
The controllability is excellent, gas pressure, exhaust fan and drum speed can all be adjusted.
There is a trier (bean sampler) and sightglass and the (seperate) cooler and the roaster itself is well built.
The cooler works very good and has a seperate exhaust ventilator and seperate controls for stirring mechanism and ventilator.
Upwarm time is pretty short (my timer has gone on the fritz so exact times will be reported after). There is an alarm when setpoint is reached (can be turned off or on).
Once the alarm goes off when the roaster has preheated you add the beans (open the chute) for the dehydration stage that goes on for app two to six minutes depending on load and humidity of beans. (load is from 200 to 520 grams).
Then you either stop the roast and cool it (for double roasting) or continue on to the actual roasting stage that is completely controllable due to control of gas pressure (flame intensity), exhaust speed and drum speed. There is a pid that shows actual drum temperature and a seperate exhaust thermometer that can be watched.
The chaff collector works very well with almost no chaff left in the roasted bean mass.
The controllability is such that roasts can easily be repeated (duplicated) once a profile is to your satisfaction.
This is the roaster that I've really wanted as the burners run on gas and temperatures can easily be adjusted (ramped up or down very rapidly) compared to electric roasters.
I know someone that has been roasting with one of these baby's for over a year now in a coffeeshop and uses it very intensively (minimum of 8 to 10 roasts a day) without any problems or breakdowns at all.
The roaster is amazingly well built (heavy duty) especially considering the costs.
Excellent value for money spent. The total costs for the roaster (including transport from the factory to the port of loading in Kaohsiung Taiwan, from Taiwan to Rotterdam by ship (the roaster was packaged well, strapped down in a wooden crate and covered with plastic sheeting) from Rotterdam to my place in Hoensbroek, The Netherlands, storage in Rotterdam, import duties, taxes etc.), where less then Euro 2500,- (due in a large part to the devaluation of the dollar).

Yes, very, very, very even and gleichmäßig, even more so then the (electric) 3 barrel Probat.
I will be doing some more roasting tomorrow and will take some more pics then.
I have been pleasantly surprised so far with this machine, have owned quite a few roasters from different manufacturers over the years and this one has the best value for money that I have ever owned.
It really is a miniaturized industrial roaster....
I roasted 6 batches of 500 grams each today, some more pics on this link:

This roaster is excellent for creating/repeating profiles and making any on the fly adjustments.

Hello Gunnar,
Nice to hear from you.
Drop by sometime to see the roaster.
I am very happy with the roaster and think that for price and build/roast quality it is the best roaster available right now.
It is a real little professional roaster.
Of course there would always be things that could be improved but in my view any improvements could definitely not be made for the price that I paid.
You can always get more expensive roasters but this one would still be hard to beat.
It is a solid piece of machinery.
There is no filter but an exhaust that in my case leads outside.
No smoke whatsoever inside due to excellent heavy duty fan motors, one for the roasting chamber and another one for the cooling tray.
It has an excellent professional chaff collector and can go up to 5 roasting cycles without being emptied.
The range is from 200 to 520 grams of green beans and it roasts all quantities in this range very well.
I am impressed with it and I have owned quite a few roasters, home roasters, semi pro roasters and a few pro roasters and I like this one the most.
It comes closest to a real pro experience.
You are welcome to visit.
Best regards,
Patrick
