Thema: Finnland/Lappland

Hallo
Ich besuche Anfang Februar eine Huskyfarm in Rovaniemi Finnland.
Bis ich in der Stadt abgeholt werde,habe ich ein paar Stunden Zeit um mich umzusehen.Wie siehts da mit Kaffees/Rösterein aus?War da schon jemand?

Am Rückflugtag hab ich auch in Helsinki Wartezeit.
Tipps ??

ich war ein paar Monate in Nordfinnland (v.a. Oulu) und meine Erfahrungen die Kaffeekultur betreffend waren leider äusserst ernüchternd...

Die Devise ist hier Quantität gaaaaaanz weit vor Qualität. Die Finnen haben den höchsten pro Kopf Kaffeekonsum der Welt. Wo ich gearbeitet hab standen in den Aufenthaltsräumen zwischen 2 und 6 (!) Filtermaschinen mit mehr oder minder vollen Kannen abgestandener Plörre aus vorgemahlenem Supermarktpulver.... zum Nachschenken brereit



Cafes hab ich ne Handvoll ausprobiert. Obwohl der ein oder andere ST anzutreffen war, bekam ich nie was Ordentliches.

Finnland hat viel zu bieten.... aber Kaffeetechnisch würde ich dir empfehlen zu versuchen, deine neue schöne Brasilia als Handgepäck mitzuschmuggeln

Die Finnen können keinen Kaffee, kein Brot und keine Wurst. Das muss man wissen, dann klappts auch mit dem Überleben.

ich hab zwar keine Ahnung von Finnland, aber wir hatten die letzten Monate einige Bestellungen da rüber. Allerdings ausschließlich von Gastarbeitern.

Ich glaub da kann man von auch nur ableiten, was die Vorredner gemeint haben.

Ja, da machen sie sogar Wiener Würstchen draus... und ich habe da nichtsahnend reingebissen. *grusel*
Sie können aber auch Elch, Rentier und Bär - und das ist superlecker.

Hello all and first of all apologies for writing this message in english (I’m just starting to learn german allthough I’m living in Germany at the moment). I come from Finland so I just couldn’t resist the urge to give a couple of tips for travellers. Just in case someone else is also going to travel to Finland someday.

Unfortunately I can’t recommend any places in Rovaniemi, but in Helsinki there is at least couple of places worth visiting. There should be one good café in the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, but unfortunately I can’t remember the name and I haven’t tried it myself. So if there’s plenty of time between the flights it might be a good idea to look around. In the city of Helsinki there is at least few locations I might be able to recommend:

La Torrefazione
Only one I’ve visited myself. Nice café and roastery in the center of the city that also serves food. Highly recommended.

Kaffa Roastery
Roastery and that’s all I can say about this place. I believe you can buy beans from there so might be nice place to visit for some souveniers.

Kaffecentralen
These guys have three shops in Helsinki. They sell coffee, tee and equipment and apparently you can also have coffee to drink in their shops.

If someone happens to be travelling to Turku, there is one of the best places in the whole country called CaféArt that has also it’s own roastery. This one is my personal favourite.

Few general tips:
DO NOT eat finnish sausages or drink regular finnish coffee. These are mostly awfull. Also finnish beer (at least some brands) might be a huge disappointment for a german.

Instead, just like betateilchen mentioned, reindeer meat and different Nordic berries are one of the best things Finland has to offer. Also nice food or snack to taste is a thing called (Karjalanpiirakka). These are sold almost in every shop, but of course home made one are the best.

I’m happy to give more information if someone is interested and hopefully I’m soon able to start using german language instead of english.

Hei, not that bad, LapinKulta was at least as good as any Swedish beer... Brings back some memories from the good old days...

Rovaniemi liegt seeehr weit weg von allem. Egal ob man nach Norwegen, Schweden und Finnland fährt, italienische Einflüsse sind soweit oben im Norden sehr beschrenkt. Ist sogar nicht ungewöhnlich, dass Kaffee aufgekocht wird... Oder in einem Perkolator zubereitet.

Im Norden sollte man das essen, was die Einheimischen essen (gilt wohl überall...). Das Essen ist wirklich gut, nur eben nicht dass was man in Deutschland zu sich nimmt.

In Oslo, Stockholm, und ich denke auch in Helsinki, findet man richtig guten Espresso.

go to the Husky farm.
I will have also a couple of hours in Helsinki before my flight back to Switzerland.Gonna try to find your proposed spots.
