Gaggia Valve Thread Direction

Hello all,

I rarely post topics here as I feel a little out of place here with my lack of German language skills. However, I am running into the issue of a stuck valve on my Gaggia Internazionale. It is the water inlet valve, and it appears to be identical in design to my steam valve (which I have successfully disassembled, and was also stuck for a while) besides the length of the rod that the knob connects to. In the photo below I circled the fitting I am trying to unscrew. The water inlet is the one with the longer rod. I am also posting a photo of the disassembled steam valve to show the configuration. It is the last valve that is not in pieces right now.

I am striking at it with a wrench and hammer to the point where I am becoming uncomfortable with the force after nearly a week of soaking and mild heat cycles (where water will start sizzling off the valve) and decided to step away from it before something snaps and breaks.

I want to ask if there is anyone who knows of a Gaggia valve of this design that is not a regular thread but rather a left handed thread. This is getting ridiculous but if there is any small chance I am going against the loosening direction I want to know about it. I can't see the threads of the fitting I am trying to loosen which compounds the issue but all other ones unscrew normally in a counterclockwise direction.

I feel like I should not be facing this much resistance against one valve with a nearly 36cm long wrench for 28mm.

 

A happy conclusion has occured. The valve did unscrew after assistance with a bigger wrench and waiting for penetrating oil to the its work. Now the task of repairing the boiler and lid may commence!
